Jobs were lost, offers were rescinded, and the job market became even more competitive due to the pandemic. According to McKinsey& Company’s Women in the Workplace report, about 2 million women are considering leaving the workforce as an impact of the global pandemic crisis, proving that unfortunately, women have been greatly affected by COVID-19 that has not ceased yet. To address this issue, Naimeesha Murthy, Founder of Products By Women, has evolved the organization to become much more than a community that now offers programs to those seeking mentorship and jobs. Mentorship is said to enhance career development but oftentimes, seeking the right mentor who will commit to helping strengthen your skillset is the most challenging part. Products By Women’s skill-based mentorship program invites professionals from all career levels — early, mid, senior- to devote time towards helping women and their allies develop their skills by teaching, providing feedback, and serving as real-life examples. Those looking to become mentors will need to complete a short application, and once approved, their professional profile will be showcased on the website. Mentees looking to level up their skills can visit the website and sign-up, read about all the mentors, and book time with a professional whose background resonates with them. …

VC, Angel, or Bootstrap? And why?
I think either of these methods is more suitable for different stages of the company. In the beginning, when you’re trying to validate an idea and see if it’s worth spending time on in the first place, bootstrapping is the way to go. As you advance, Angel is generally easier to start with when doing something like a seed round. …

We grew and grew, and currently, we have over 8000 members in 70 countries all over the world.

We also found our rhythm during these stressful times by reading. The Lit Hub reported that more than 35% of the world is reading more during the pandemic. …

When you think of the words “accessibility” and “inclusion” as they relate to design, what do you think of? When you hear the word “disability” what comes to mind?

If you asked me a year ago what these words meant to me — I might have said that what came to mind were ramps and elevators to make buildings more accessible or when I thought of disability, physical impairments were the first thing that I thought of. Regine’s lecture opened my eyes to a much broader understanding of the significance and purpose of design, and it made me want to learn more about how to practice inclusive design when developing products and websites. …

Understanding this gender health gap is what led CERN scientist Dr. Elina Berglund to create Natural Cycles with her physicist husband Dr. Raoul Scherwitzl. The idea was to empower women by giving them control over their reproductive cycle. …
